Why is the SR11 display sample rate sometimes inconsistent with the actual sample rate of the currently playing track?

The sampling rate displayed on the SR11 screen represents the sampling rate collected from the data signal received. Some players may do a sample rate conversion (SRC) during audio playback. For example, in AirPlay mode, the iOS device converts all audio to 44.1 kHz, which is then transmitted to the SR11 – this displays as 44.1 kHz and no longer shows the original track’s sampling rate.

When playing DSD tracks in Roon Ready mode, the SR11 only supports DoP output. Thus, when using USB output, the SR11 displays the DoP stream that the downstream device can handle, which is typically half of the native DSD stream it supports. When using S/PDIF output, DSD64 is consistently output.
